Dogs need jobs!
You are bringing home the bacon, and they need to work, too!
Sometimes we put a backpack on our Boxer Cross, Vida, when she is walking, and this becomes a responsibility or job for her. She is carrying water, and clean-up bags, and other supplies needed for the walk. This task also adds weight, which gives her a more fulfilling walk, as it is more challenging.
Other "jobs:"
Teaching and executing agility and obedience.
"Working" for food - exercise you dogs before you feed them.

- I began working with dogs in 2004 in a grooming shop. I started my business, David the Dog Walker, in May 2006. When we fostered our first dog, Remy, in Los Angeles, we realized how challenging it was to be a good dog owner. Her biggest issue: she would not walk on a leash. As I was just learning about dog behavior and training, I did not know how to "fix" this problem. Remy found a home that was a better fit (we were living in a studio apartment in Korea Town), and we found a better fit, too - VIDA. Vida is and was, wonderful. However, she has "dog-aggression issues." We have been modifying Vida's behavior for three years, pretty successfully, and she is now much more a ease around strange dogs. The challenges that arose from living with dogs (and now we have two) has inspired me to learn more about dog training, how dogs learn, and dog behavior.
